I’ve decided to return to some classics in between some regular modern reads. I recently finished Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston. I think we read this in sophomore lit. in high school (so long ago…..). The language takes some getting used to, but it was interesting to read a story about the African American culture in the 1930’s, especially focusing on a woman who didn’t like to do things the “right” way. To me it seems to really show the struggles and societal norms of the time. It was a great reread, and I would definitely recommend it if you’ve never read it!
