KHP Day 7
So I totally dropped the ball this week on posting. It has been an absolute crazy week, with a big project at my internship and getting everything ready to host my BFF’s Bachelorette Party that has been 22 years coming. 🙂 I’m so excited!
Anyway….my current joy comes from my dog, Tucker. I was dog sitting for 2 weeks, and the dog was sweet, but she was a lot to handle compared to Tucker. I always knew Tucker was an extra special, good dog, but now I know he is basically SUPER dog. He doesn’t jump up, he doesn’t beg (other than staring at your food), he doesn’t poop or pee in the house, he can go all day by himself and be fine, and he only barks occassionally at other dogs in protection of his own house. He also sleeps in when I do and doesn’t require that I get up at 5:30am every single day to let him out. And on top of that he’s adorable. (I’m not on my own computer right now, so can’t upload a picture, but will as soon as I can). Sure, he gets under foot sometimes, but that’s just because he wants to know what’s going on and make sure you’re not leaving him.
When I got him, he could sit when told but that was it. He is almost 4 years old, so I wasn’t sure if he would be able to learn any new commands or tricks, but I figured I’d try. I started with “lay down” but decided we would start with something easier…..”shake.” So I started trying to get him to learn “shake”….telling him “shake”, lifting his paw myself, “shake”, lift his paw. We’ve been doing this for a month or so now, but in his defense, I wasn’t consistent with it at all. But I started again when terror dog-sitting dog left…..And he did it!! He’s done it two separate times in a row now!!
I’m pretty sure this is what a proud parent feels like….. 🙂
