#23 on my 101 list: chaperone a week-long mission trip. Not only did I chaperone, but I coordinated many aspects of the trip (along with a fabulous staff). We took 120 people, youth and leaders, to New Orleans. The rising seniors went early for some bonding time and leadership training, and the rising 9th-11th graders came a couple days later.
We stayed in, what Teddy affectionately named, ‘tainers and also showered and went potty in ‘tainers. The camp was pretty awesome, with lots of space for our needs and a fabulous cook. We also drove around the Lower Ninth Ward, where the devastation from flooding is still apparent.
The week included:
- Hard work at various sites, including painting, sorting beads, tending to rescue horses, and playing with kids at summer camp
- Group games
- Rock ‘n’ Bowl night
- Steamboat Tour
- Hang out time
- Beignets at Cafe Du Monde
I think everyone on the trip had a great time! What up Team Teal!!
