My coworker reads a lot so I get most of my book recommendations from her – and luckily we have very similar taste in literature. She recommended Vampires in the Lemon Grove by Karen Russell. The first thing to remember with this book is that they are short stories – if you don’t remember that you will be very confused. I knew that, but forgot, and the cover was very tiny on my Kindle.
It was very different to read short stories, which I haven’t read since probably high school. I didn’t love it but it wasn’t awful – it was just an adjustment in reading. I loved some stories, didn’t love some, and some didn’t really have endings (which I did not love). All of the stories were very creative and unique.
I wouldn’t give it 5 stars but I was definitely entertained and it kept my attention (especially after I remembered they were short stories heh). If you’re looking for something different to read – this is for you!
