Beatrice and Virgil

This one was a quick read – book #14 of 20Beatrice and Virgil by Yann Martel, the author of Life of Pi, was another very interesting book. I apparently recently gravitate to WWII and Holocaust themes – this story takes place in modern times, but it is a about a writer. He has had one successful book, working on another with a Holocaust theme, but with a modern twist. It does not go over well with the publishers and editors.

So he takes a break, moves, and basically starts a new life, only to come across a taxidermist/budding writer who has written a play and wants some help. Similar theme, but there are animals involved, of course. Yes it is kind of weird – which is expected from Yann Martel. This was basically a story within a story, but definitely as a twist at the end. It’s a quick read that will keep your attention. Enjoy!
